Classes are 6 sessions, we meet approx. 2 hours once a week. A portfolio review can be substituted for the Intro course prerequisite. Click on the course title for more info. Introduction -
This class is for a beginning photographer
or someone who wants to refresh the basics of film and light.
Students will learn how to use available light and meters as well as
basic film and equipment choices. A 6 week course that takes you
quickly to the level of a pro. Completing the course requires a
portfolio of at least 8 prints. Journalism -
For the student who wants to capture personal images and events,
in order to bring life to a single frame. Focus will be on people
and their activities. Proficiency with
your 35mm camera is a must. Students will publish their work in a
magazine styled after Alfred Stieglitz's Camera Work,
which will be printed at the end of class. Fine Art -
For the advanced photographer interested in displaying
his or her work in galleries. Focus will be on the finished print.
Subjects covered will be landscapes, seascapes,
cityscapes and night time photography. Student must have profiency
with a 35mm camera. A portfolio of 6
large mounted prints required for completion. Portraiture -
Also for the advanced student.
Class focuses on people photography indoors and out using fill light
and reflectors. Completion requires a book of well lit personal
portraits. Large Format Cameras -
Students must have access to a large format, 4x5 or larger, camera.
Focus will be on nature, architecture, and Palladium printing.
Completion requirement is 10 black & white or color mounted prints. Digital Darkroom

All the pros are using digital now. We shoot with film, and scan the
images for publishing and printing. Learn how to take your film image to
a fine art print using a computer, scanner and ink jet printer. This course
covers the techniques of scanning the original and getting the best prints
possible on a Giclee type printer. This is not a course on using a digital
camera. Computer Workshop

Hands on work with scanners, Photoshop and Macintosh computers, including
web design and digital printing. Completion is a
web site which promotes your photographic work. Requires a computer
